A2DP Enabler. FAQ and short instructions

Sometimes I am getting e-mails asking about instructions how to use A2DP Enabler.  So step by step guide:

  1. Download and install A2DP Enabler.
  2. Launch it and enable A2DP Profile, reboot iPhone.
  3. Go to the Settings->Generat->Bluetooth. Turn it ON, put your headset into pairing mode and pair with iPhone. Details about pairing you can find in headset manual.
  4. If you have paired headset before enabling A2DP it should be fine too.
  5. Launch A2DP Enabler, it should list your headset in paired devices list
  6. Tap on headset name to connect, it should display that headset is connected
  7. Launch iPod application, you should see Bluetooth Icon in the bottom of the screen.
FAQ:

Q: My headset receives calls, but music doesn't work!
A: Your headset probably doesn't support A2DP Profile, check headset specification or manual.

Q: Headset Prev/Next buttons don't work.
A: This is a known limitation of Apple's A2DP/AVRCP implementation. My application just enable built-in functions. Fast Forward and Fast Rewind will not work neither. Apple Stack support only Play/Stop/Pause commands from AVRCP profile.

Q: Cannot control volume from iPhone
A: There is no sense to scale PCM stream on the iPhone to change volume level. It much easier to control amplifier on headset side, using headset buttons.

Q: I change volume level on headset, but iPhone's volume slider doesn't updated
A: Look at previous question first. The AVRCP standard allow headset to notify iPhone about volume buttons clicks, but if headset sends this commands it's expected that iPhone would react on them and change volume of the stream. This operation will consume CPU time, battery and reduce quality. That's why I never saw a headset which notify host about volume level changes.

Thank You for your development, its great. But I found problem, regarding using bluetooth A2DP and wifi stream apps (as TVU, Wunderradio, ect...). It will cause the stream buffer unable to handle. Maybe its because the wifi and bluetooth are on the same module on first gen iPhone. A2DP work great with EDGE on these stream apps. Otherwise, iPod works great. May be you could look into the problems.

I installed the app, but the bluetooth icon doesn't appear on the bottom of the music controls. What should I do?

Thanks for a great app :)
Works with Sony Ericsson HBH-DS220 and also HBH-DS970.
If the HS has BT volume control, then this works to. (Its a pity Apple don't let users access volume control in the iPhone)

Hi Everyone.
First thanks to Dmytro for the great app!
Here my question:
Yesterday after unlock with blacksn0w my iphone crashes. After some work everything is working again incl. jailbreak :-). The problem is that after reinstall "USB drive" it doesnt show any more my already created 4GB partition. Suggested methods as swipe from left to right doesn't apply. If I check the Iphone INFO the 4GB space is really gone. Someone do know how to manually of automaticly recover these space?
regards,
Shaman

Awesome product!!!! I just got it to work. I did not have you as one of my repositories on Cydia. Once I found the instructions to add you to my Cydia, it was smooth sailing after that. I have a 2g Iphone and a KBtel bluetooth stereo headphone. THANK YOU!!!

This is GREAT! It has a few issues (as already noted), but the main point is to get music from the bluetooth headset and this program makes it possible - Thanks!!!

This app is awesome !!! I just bought a Insignia Bluetooth NS-BT400 Speaker and was disappointed when I realized it wouldn't work with my iPhone 2G. I installed your app and now it works perfect! Even the games stream the audio to the speaker! Super cool, thanks !

A shortage of this app is the limitation of anyone but firmwave 3.0 or better. It could be more great if it could adapt more.

Perfect! Works with my Philips SHB6 bluetooth headphones and Lance-6600 bluetooth speakers.Iphone is original running version 3.0.

sorry i did stupid mistake.
I have an iPhone 3GS with firmware 3.1.2.
I installed your A2DP Enabler in the hope of getting a better AVRCP Profile. But this is not so.
Ok now I want to remove the A2DP Enabler proberly.

I tried to switch off the enabler and deinstalled it, but this doesn't bring the original Profile back to work.

So how should I work?

Thanks for your help...

Absolutely fantastic! I'll be using this together with a car stereo with BT capability. No more CDs, I only have them on my iPhone 2G anyway.

Even with limited knowledge of all the iphone-hacking-lingo, this one was up and working within 5 minutes of finding it. Thanks a million!

Hi your app worked like charm with my car Bluetooth. The only issue is the volume is set too low. I can just barely hear the music with max volume on my car. Any chance you can set the volume on the a2dp profile?

I need this to see Bluetooth devices that are not headsets. I got a Bluetooth stereo system I need it to hook up to.

By the way, I'm creating a Bluetooth peer to peer game at the mo. Should be ready for release in February. Check the iPhone App store Mid Feb and search for Bluetooth games.

I just bought a new bluetooth headset, Sony DR-BT10CX (by the way, suggested on the apple WEB site), and my iphone wouldn't stream the podcasts without your fix. Thanks soo much!

Like some of the other posters I might be a complete idiot not to be able to find where I can download and install this tool that everyone speaks so highly of.

Can someone please post where in the Cydia repository he found the possibility to download and install "A2DP enabler"

Just saying thanks along with everyone else. I was pretty annoyed when people tried to say that the iphone 2G's hardware wasn't capable of supporting a2dp. Now we all know those people are liars and can prove it. Thanks again!

Hey great app, though quick question what happens if you don't reboot after changing status in your app?
Does it still work or do I risk any kind of s/w corruption.
Thanks

This app is an iPhone killer !!! BEWARE ! I first asks if it can use your location. Even if you say NO it still keeps checking your location. Translated that means that it sucks data from you phone continually. The author probably gets money from Apple for the data. Worst of all you cannot uninstall this app...it just sits on your phone and sucks and sucks and sucks. Just like the author of this suck program.

Thanks! Allowed me to reincarnate my iphone 2g!
